Charlie Haughey was drafted to the Army in 1967, and served a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968-1969. While in country, he was commissioned to be the photographer for the battalion. He subsequently shot nearly 2,000 black and white and color negatives, as well as a few hundred color slides.
The collection of photos sat in boxes for nearly 44 years. Charlie did not print or archive the images, and only saw images from about 15% of the negatives. A chance meeting brought them out of dormancy, and our team is now working to bring the photo collection to the public. Currently, we’re planning a 28 print show in Portland, OR.
Follow us on Tumblr and Facebook for updates on the project, hear back story, and see preview images from the collection. You can also see 30 preview images on our Flickr page.
